Well, this is the best info I can give on the ATARI jnr console with 128
GAMES BUILT IN! If you see any errors or omissions or wish to comment,
please email me at the above address.

WHERE PURCHASED:- I understand these were available from our "BIG W"
department stores (Melbourne, Australia) during the
Christmas 1991 shopping period. Price unknown.

DESCRIPTION:- This unit looks at first like any other ATARI 2600 jnr
console except that the 2-position channel switch has been
replaced by a 4-position switch with proud lettering
on the top edge of the console that reads "1 2 3 4",
"GAME GROUP". Internally the board is very different to the
regular 2600 jnr and has 4 seperate ROM chips added.

The COLOR/BW switch is still labelled as such but no longer
serves to select COLOR/BW, instead, it is used to cycle
through the games in each group of 32. (The switch is spring
loaded and is of the momentary action type).

To access builtin games the four-position switch is used
to select game group number, the console is switched on
(without a cartridge in the cartridge slot) then the
COLOR/BW switch is used to cycle to the desired game. It is
possible to continue cycling through games at any time.
SELECT & RESET switches work in the usual way.

The factory fitted COLOR/BW switch was a great source of
frustration as many games were skipped during selection.
I removed, dis-assembled, cleaned and refitted the switch
which solved the problem to a large extent. This, however,
proved a risky operation as the poles of the switch are
connected to both faces of the main board.
The best fix is to add a panel mounted momentary action
microswitch somewhere on the case then wire it to the
COLOR/BW switch poles. (Leave the COLOR/BW switch as is).
Either switch can then be used to select games.

FEATURES:- 128 games built in to the console. Surprisingly most of the
games in the first 3 groups are rare.

Some surprises are:- Air Raiders
Master Builder & Gas Hog
Missile Control (Video Gems)
Assault, Great Escape & Z-Tack (BOMB)

Game size is clearly not limited to 2K! eg. River Raid is a
4K game. Some games have their colours messed up. eg.River
Raid, Pooyan, Bobby is going home.

Finally, some games have just slightly altered sprites
(eg. Bobby Is Going Home, Z-Tack) so the real origin of
some of the games may remain a mystery.
Note:- "Z-Tack" is not really "Base Attack" by Homevision
since the differences between the console game and Z-Tack
are only minor.

don't agree with the instruction leaflet).

SOME HINTS FOR OBSCURE GAMES:-

-------------------------COL 'N' BY HOMEVISION---------------------------

OBJECTIVE:-

A Pacman style maze. You look for four hidden flying-saucer(?)
parts that are hidden in the maze, however, you can only collect
them in the correct order. There are four hidden enemies (chewing
skulls) which you might find instead.

SEARCHING FOR PARTS:-

The presence of a skull or part is revealed by entering the opening of
any one of 8 maze closets (small dead-end).

- If there is a skull in the maze closet then it will start chasing you.

- If there is no skull then press the joystick button and a blue dot
will appear in one of the four distant corners of the maze. You must
walk over the blue dot and press the joystick button to pick it up.
If this is not the correct part then it will appear in your inventory
but you will be unable to pick it up.
(In this case return to the closet and press the joystick button
again to return the part. Then try another closet).

Collect all four saucer parts to complete the level. There are also
four "slow-down" corridors that will interupt your progress.

YOUR ONLY DEFENSE:-

You can place a dot on the screen using the joystick button which
momentarily blocks the path of marauding skulls. You begin each level
with three blockers and can collect up to nine blockers at any one time
by walking over the big square that appears periodically in the centre
of the maze.

------------------------CRIMINAL PURSUIT TP-619--------------------------

You start with 3 lives and a time limit of 5:00. If you put the left
difficulty switch in the B position then there will be no guard dog
on the ground floor in round #1.

OBJECTIVE:-

Steal goodies from the windows of an appartment building and escape
with them from the roof top.

STEALING THE GOODIES:-

You climb up & down the balconies of a four storey appartment building
while avoiding guard dogs (by jumping over them) and a guard(?) who
appears in the appartment windows.

Score points for collecting precious objects from appartment windows.

Climb up to the roof-top and escape using a getaway helicopter helmet(?)
to complete the round. Then try for more! (If you do not collect enough
goodies then the escape copter won't come to your aid and you will run
out of time).

-------------------------FIRE SPINNER BY EMAG----------------------------

You start with 3 lives and a 5:00 time limit.

OBJECTIVE:-

You are in a city street and a machine which travels randomly from left
to right throws fire-balls at you which you try to avoid. You must
strike the machine with one of your own fire-balls to destroy it.

TOSSING FIREBALLS:-

You can toss a fire-ball by holding <up> until a fire-ball appears then
move the joystick in a circular motion in the same direction as the
fire-ball is spinning. Press the button to throw it. (Before pressing
<UP> move left to spin anti-clockwise or right to spin clockwise).

The scene alternates between two different screens.

CREDITS:- GREG CHANCE:- Without who's vast ROM, Screenshot & manuals
library I would have been unable to indentify many of the
games on the 128 console.
