 Spending too much time in front of your Atari 2600 and not getting enough exercise? Marco Lazzeri has tackled the problem by building an Exercise Bike Controller for the Atari 2600 well suited to play Activision's Decathlon. Marco took an AOL CD and modified it for use with exercise bike, generating the necessary left and right movements as the pedals are turned.  The Atari Video Club has announced plans for their first video game show, The Video Game Summit. The event is scheduled to take place on July 12th, 2003 and will be held in Suburban Lombard, Illinois at The Quality Inn and Suites Hotel.  Chris Hutt has posted a new and detailed Work in Progress update to his Atari 130XE Space Harrier Conversion Project page. This ambitious project aims to port the popular Sega arcade game Space Harrier to the Atari 130XE.  If you're interested in Jaguar emulation, several recent updates have been made to the Virtual Jaguar emulator over at Potato Emulation. New movies have been posted showing several games (Doom, Ultra Vortek, Pitfall, Bubsy and Raiden) running in the emulator, and new screenshots have been posted as well.  JagFest organizers have announced plans to hold multiple JagFest 2003 events this year to provide more people the Jaguar experience during the tenth anniversary of its release by Atari. This year's JagFest events will take place at other classic gaming events nationwide, as opposed to being standalone events themselves. Each event will feature demos of lost and upcoming games, as well as one or more tournaments with prizes for some of the best Jaguar games out there.  The team at AtariArchives.org has announced the latest addition to their ever growing archive of classic Atari books. The latest edition is Electronic Computer Projects For Commodore and Atari Personal Computers, written by Soori Sivakumaran and published by Compute! Publications. This little-known book includes schematics and software for projects to turn your 8-bit Atari, Commodore 64, or Vic-20 into a burglar alarm, robotic motor control system, and digital light sensor, as well as other interesting projects. This book is available in its entirety online and is the 10th classic computing book made available at AtariArchives.org.

 Fans of Atari 8-bit music may be interested to learn that two new SAP audio players have been released. One player is for the Amiga and is titled SAP (which also happens to be the name of an existing Amiga SAP player), and the other, SAPplug, is a plug-in for the XMMS Linux audio player. Both of these players can be downloaded from the Atari SAP Music Archive, as well as the ASMA archive itself, which presently has over 1500 Atari 8-bit tunes.

 There have been quite a few status updates recently for the Virtual Jaguar emulator over at Potato Emulation. There are many new screenshots of the emulator in action, lists of games that are working, working but not playable, and not working at all, and many other updates. The Virtual Jaguar emulator hasn't been released yet, but we're looking forward to its release later this year.

 The CastCE emulator we mentioned two weeks ago has now been released! CastCE is a fully functional Atari ST emulator for PocketPC devices CastCE supports hundreds of great Atari ST games and runs many of them at full speed on a 206Mhz IPAQ.  Gray Chang, author of several Atari 8-bit computer games, has created a website with lots of great information about them. The games are Claim Jumper, Dog Daze, Dog Daze Deluxe, and Bumpomov's Dogs. Gray has included descriptions, historical information, screenshots, and box artwork for each game, as well as the binaries you can download and run in an Atari 8-bit emulator.  boob! has posted a new version of Atari800DC. What's new in version 0.75:
uses Atari800 cvs code base as of jan-11-2003
reverted the sound changes which were introduced in the 0.72 version - the sound should be similar to 0.71.
saved states on the VMU now show a Atari icon. Due to a change in the layout of the state save file, saved states of previous versions aren't recognized.
changing video mode of emulated Atari now doesn't change the video mode used to drive the screen. These 2 video mode settings (what the emulated Atari thinks the video mode is, and the video mode used by the DC) can now be changed independently. Setting them to different values will disable double buffering, so best results are achieved if both settings are the same.
buttons B, X, Y on the 1st DC controller can now be redefined to generate simulated key presses on the keyboard. If they are redefined, the Start, Select, and Option keys can be entered in the keyboard emulation screen.

 For anyone who's had to deal with a poor-quality RF signal when trying to use their Atari 2600 system, Chris Wilkson is developing an A/V mod that provides composite, S-Video, and stereo outputs. Chris has sent us pictures of the board he's working on as well as screenshots of the mod in action, which you can find here.  While working on his new Fu Kung! 2600 game, Andrew Davie has put together an impressive tech demo of a Dancing Baby. This demo should give you an idea of the type of animation Andrew is shooting for as he continues to develop Fu Kung! You can download the demo here and take a look at an animated image here (thanks to Chris Larkin for putting that image together!) To run this demo you will need to download the latest version of z26 and make sure to pass in the -g11 command-line parameter.

 Version 1.14 of the Atari++ Emulator has been released. The Atari++ Emulator is a Unix-based Atari 8-bit emulator, and can be compiled on a variety of systems (Linux, Solaris, Irix). New features in the 1.14 release include:
Extended emulation of various cartridge types (SDX,XEGS)
Emulation of the 5200 BountyBob cartridge.
Improved sound quality for Oss and ALSA.
Highly improved sound emulation for SDL

 Version 1.2.0 of the Atari800MacX Atari 8-bit emulator has been released. Atari800MacX is a native OS X Cocoa port of the Atari 800 emulator. Lots of new features and bug fixes in this version, including the ability to program keys used for keyboard emulation of joysticks, subdirectory support for DOS functions, new support for AlphaOmega Software's Extended Software Updater, and more.  If you've been holding off on picking up a copy of Ron Lloyd's excellent Koffi: Yellow Kopter for the Atari 5200, your time is running out! Ron only has roughly 10 copies of the limited First Edition of Koffi: Yellow Kopter available, and once they're gone no more copies of this limited edition will be produced! The first 100 Koffi: Yellow Kopters include a unique box, cart and manual, and both the cart and box are autographed.  Marty Goldberg passes word along that after eight months of work, the Atari Gaming Headquarters has a new look! While not all the sections are currently active, there's plenty of new content and the site will be updated on a regular basis. To view the new site you'll need at least Internet Explorer 5.5, Netscape 6, or Mozilla (if you're still using an older browser the old site is still available).  A new version of the NoSTalgia Atari ST emulator for OS X has been released. Version 1.2 of NoSTalgia has many new features and improvements, such as a new speed control, new 'Auto Frame' code, new I/O and HDD code, new ST mouse driver, desk detection has been fixed, and much more.
