Bliss to Support Atari 5200
June 7, 2001
Posted by Albert Submit News | Archives

Bliss HomepageBliss, the Intellivision emulator, is set to support the 5200 in the future. Here is the latest news from the Bliss site: "Work continues on the Atari 5200 emulation. I have most of the video modes implemented, but I still need to add support for player-missile graphics and input before I can make a release. No word yet on how long this will require or when a release will be forthcoming. Sorry I don't have more info for you, but I've included some screenshots below for your viewing pleasure." It should be noted that Bliss also supports Kaillera, the internet multiplayer tool. Hmmm...

Gameboy Advance B-Sides?
June 6, 2001
Posted by Albert Submit News | Archives

Gameboy Advance at AmazonRumor has it that Haslage Net Electronics is in the development stage of producing a multicart for the Gameboy Advance that would feature 2600 B-side games. Infogrames has indicated they may allow the use of such games as long as the marquee titles are not used (that Infogrames may wish to use themselves), hence the B-side reference. HSE is currently soliciting suggestions for which games to use on the cart - which games are fun to play but maybe didn't receieve as much attention? Post your ideas to the message board or contact Christopher Haslage.

2600 Game in Development
June 2, 2001
Posted by Albert Submit News | Archives

SCSIcideJoe Grand is working on a new Atari 2600 game tentatively titled SCSIcide, and he's looking for input. This is a playable version, but Joe is looking for gameplay, story, name, and other suggestions. Check out his page for more info, and download the ROM to try it out on StellaX. Gameplay: move your ship up and down, and hit the fire button when you intersect with a color block that matches the color of your score. Clear all the blocks and you'll move to the next (faster) level. Click the wrong color and the game is over, or miss the block entirely and your latency bar will go down.

What Could Have Been
June 1, 2001
Posted by Albert Submit News | Archives

LadybugEver wonder why 2600 arcade ports didn't look closer to the original? Sure there were limited resources, and the graphics couldn't possibly match the arcade machines, but was that it? Just compare Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man to see the difference, and you can see what Pac-Man should have been. For more examples, visit GameOverNet where you can see screenshots and download new versions of Space Invaders, Asteroids, and Pac-Man. You'll also find some mock screenshots of what Robotron, Turtles, and Ladybug might have looked like.

2600 "Atlantis II" Discovered
May 21, 2001
Posted by Albert Submit News | Archives

Atlantis IIMany of you may know that Imagic held a contest called "Defend Atlantis" back in the 80's. Contestants were invited to take a picture of their TV showing their high score, and the top four scorers would be invited to Bermuda to have a playoff. What you may not know is that there were too many people with matching high scores, so Imagic created a special version of Atlantis called Atlantis II to help settle the issue. Thanks to Doug Korekach we can now share this game ROM with you and some more of the history behind it. Read our Atlantis II feature for more on this new discovery.
